Online Flower Shopping
Multiply your airline miles with online shopping trips
NEW YORK If you don't feel like braving the crowds for your holiday shopping, simply shop online from home -- and earn yourself a vacation at the same time. Many airlines now offer their own online mileage malls, Web sites comprised of a network of major online merchants such as Nordstrom, Target, 1-800-Flowers, Sephora and more. You can buy goods through the airline mileage mall and earn bonus miles for every dollar spent. And since the prices at these mileage malls are the same as the ones you'd find on an individual retailer's site, you're really getting an added value. Most airlines are offering special holiday deals. Here's a roundup: American Airlines fliers can find hundreds of major retailers at its AAdvantage eShopping program, which offers up to 10 miles for each dollar spent with certain stores.

Today Is Cyber Monday
Forget all the hype about Black Friday and Cyber Monday coming just after Thanksgiving. If history is any kind of teacher, today is the real Monday that matters for online retailers. Dec. 12 was the busiest Internet shopping day last year. It's not the actual date that matters; it's the fact that it was the second Monday of the month. Today is the day when folks get back in to work, fret that they haven't really done a lot of holiday shopping just yet, and go online to strike deals. Waiting any longer places buyers in the unsavory position of having to overpay for speedy delivery options. This time around, Christmas falls on a Monday, too. That creates a greater urgency to have gifts delivered by Dec. 22. It's a fact that some retailers like Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) are relishing.
